Africa Day (May 25 every year) is considered MCC's second biggest day of celebration. Over 60% of the agency's work is in Africa, and we have a lot to talk about in terms of  positive impact across the continent.
We created a sharable Flickr album with the graphics, and feature page on our website highlighting our projects across the continent.
Externally, we hosted a discussion (part of our Smart Aid series) event that brought in 50 attendees featuring MCC Africa program staff from different regions and sectors across MCC’s partner countries in Africa including Malawi, Niger, Cote d’Ivoire, and Senegal to discuss their work.
On social media, our outreach to partners generated over 2M impressions and 120 direct engagements -- 21% above baseline activity. More importantly, several of our primary stakeholders participated, including key Senator Chris Coons.
As MCC's projects across the continent have outsized impact, we made sure our email audience knew exactly how big that impact is, incorporating the campaign graphics and messages into main external newsletter.
Finally, we engaged staff in an internal communications activity "Where in Africa is this from?", where we took photos of staff holding an item from their desk that are from our Africa country projects. We then posted the photos in cafes and common areas, with sticky notes for people to leave their guesses.
